Our Cultural Values

Among the private institutions across Myanmar, we not only provide the globally-recognized academic qualifications for our students, we preserve and embed our traditional heritage and cultural values within our campus. The university campus is inspired by Burmese Vintage and British Colonial architecture style with modernized facilities.

Not only that, whereas Myanmar Imperial University is well-renowned as the first ever private University in Myanmar, surplus amount of traditional aspects, cultural values and respects are embedded at the heart of the University which have been caringly shared among the family members and students of MIU as well.

Our History

Following the passionate ambition of our Founders, Mr. Phyo Maung Maung and Mrs. Poht Poht Kyi in creating the positive change and landmark in Myanmar’s higher education sector, Myanmar Imperial University has been established as the very first private leading university of Myanmar since the year ‘2004’ with the initial capital investment of US$2,000. Although it was commenced with only 4 students in the beginning, the University presently has a close-knitted network of more than 3,000 graduates and more than 1,400 registered students studying at the University.

Among all the activities, one of the most notable undertakings that our university had carried out since 2016 annually is known as, ‘Let Myanmar Renowned’ annual leadership development forum. The forum had regularly shared invaluable insights regarding Leadership and Growth Mindset for an estimation of 2,000 youths annually and had provided great beneficiaries, delivering surplus knowledge and enhancing their potential and capabilities. In addition, the MIU Futsal Club that our founders co-established had also accomplished major triumphs and achievements across both locally and internationally, having clinched as champions along with Fair Play Award for both Local and International Futsal League from the year 2014-2019, consecutively.

Some of our Highlighted Milestones

  • • MIU currently has more than 3,000 graduated students in MIU Alumni network.
  • • MIU proudly participated as an academic sponsor for organizing the Philip Kotler’s “Myanmar Marketing Forum 2014” in Myanmar.
  • • MIU’s students had achieved the Pearson Outstanding Learners Awards for five consecutive years, from the year 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 respectively.
  • • In 2015, MIU launched the very first Doctorate Programme of Business Administration in collaboration with the University of Northampton (UK) for Myanmar business entrepreneurs.
  • • Established in 2014, MIU Futsal Club has consecutively achieved Championship Awards from the year 2014 to 2019 in MFF (Myanmar Futsal Federation) respectively.
  • • MIU Futsal Club has won the 1st Runner UP and Fair Play Award in AFF (Asian Futsal Federation Championship) in 2016 to 2019 respectively.
  • • In January 2018, Myanmar Imperial Research Association (MIRA) was established in order to promote evidence-based research culture in organizational development of Myanmar.
  • • In 2019, MIU student had achieved the first ever BRONZE Award for International Pearson Outstanding Learners Award.
  • • In June 2019, MIU had proudly participated in Myanmar Leadership Conference 2019, as a Gold Sponsor, which was led by globally renowned Marketing Guru, Dr. John C Maxwell.
  • • In October 2019, MIU had honorably taken part in World Marketing Summit Myanmar 2019, as an academic partner, which was led by Professor Dr. Philip Kotler.
  • • In October 2019, MIU had expanded the range of programmes by launching Executive Diploma Programmes inclusive of Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership, Diploma in Strategic Marketing and Brand Management, Diploma in Operations and Project Management and Diploma in Business Research in collaboration with our main academic partner, the University of Northampton (UK).
